Attempt to poach two Kuno cheetahs foiled; patrolling stepped up
12 Dec 24
BHOPAL:
An alleged poaching attempt has been foiled by forest staff at Kuno
National Park in the same area where cheetahs Agni and Vaayu were
wilded a week ago.
Thanks to heightened surveillance to monitor two free-ranging cheetahs,
poachers were intercepted quickly. According to sources, the gunmen
tried to infiltrate Moravan West Range, but were challenged by a jungle
patrol. Surrounded, the poachers fired at them and fled. Authorities
suspect the poachers are local tribesmen hunting for bushmeat. Officers
are trying to track them down. Park officials have stepped up
patrolling.
