State records 40 more new wildfire incidents

Dehradun: Uttarakhand noted 40 fire incidents on Wednesday affecting 46.31 hectares of forest cover in the state. Majority of the affected area falls in the Garhwal region, with 26 incidents that ravaged 24.84 hectares of forest land, followed by Kumaon region where 14 incidents gutted 21.47 hectares of forest land, according to the data of forest department.

So far, at least 948.86 hectares of forest land have been gutted in 761 fire incidents that happened since November last year.In parts of Pauri and Tehri, residents also joined fire dousing operations as the fires were spreading due to windy weather.
