3 Elephants Mowed Down By Speeding Truck In Odisha

Three
elephants were killed and one critically injured after being hit by a
truck on National Highway 20 near Balijodi under Ghatagaon Forest Range
of Keonjhar district on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
An
elephant herd was crossing the road when the mishap occurred. On
getting information, Forest Department officials reached the spot and
initiated efforts for post-mortem of the deceased elephants and
treatment of the injured.
Following the accident, the truck had
also skidded off the road. Meanwhile, the vehicle has been seized and
the truck driver and helper detained by the Forest Department officials.
