1 July 2019
MUMBAI:

to construct an underground tunnel through Sanjay Gandhi National Park
(SGNP) for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. The civic body will purchase
more than 100 acre land adjoining Tadoba Andheri Tiger Reserve in
Chandrapur and hand it over to the forest department for afforestation.
Initially,
when the forest department sought compensation, the BMC had refused,
claiming that they were not disturbing the surface area of SGNP. But
the forest department insisted on the BMC providing land under the
compensatory afforestation rule.
